Casadei Sogno Mediterraneo Syrah 2022
Made from selected Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre grapes, this eclectic Tuscan wine is fermented using native yeasts and is split between both concrete tanks and terracotta amphorae. After this, the wine spends 14 months in barrel, 20% of which is new French oak. The nose has the savory salinity of black plum skin, black olive, saltwater over crushed rocks and mixed crushed herbs, while the palate brings the sweeter tang of blackberries and plums, even as plenty more savory, earthy, metallic notes push back against the fruit. Formidable tannins and fierce acid. Exellent with flavourful roasted meats like lamb and game, also with stews and aged cheeses and hearty pasta dishes.
